The Goals of UW-HOSA

  • To foster programs and activities that will develop leadership and character
  • To build confidence in students about themselves and their work by learning to assume responsibilities and by developing personal and social skills which lead to realistic choices for careers.
  • To promote inter-organizational relationships with professional groups, businesses, industries and other student organizations.
  • To promote involvement in current health-care issues, environmental concerns, and needs of the community.

  • To promote career opportunities in the health-care industry and provide opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development for all students interested in health-care.

Vision

  • Through workshops, collaboration, community & campus connections, and civic engagement, UW-HOSA members gain leadership and interpersonal skills to confidently enter the health-care career of their choice.

  • HOSA (Health Occupations Soceity of America) is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health occupations instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSTE-HOSA Partnership.
  • HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in HSTE programs. HOSA is 100% health care!
  • Since its inception in 1976, HOSA has grown steadily reaching 76,012 students through thirty-six (36) affiliated state associations with involvement in four (4) unaffiliated states and 2,281 chapters in the 2003-04 membership year.
